About this position

Full-time: 70 hours per fortnight

Salary: The salary will be aligned to the Trainees Rates of Pay in the Local Government State Award  (refer details below)

Position details:

The primary function of this Traineeship is to develop the skills and knowledge of activities within the Finance & Governance Department and assist in the achievement of outcomes in line with Council’s procedures, policies and legislative requirements.

The Trainee is responsible for making every effort to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to undertake and successfully complete the study component of the traineeship.

The Traineeship is a full-time position for 24 months and the trainee will undertake Certificate III in Business Administration, in conjunction with on the job training.

Please note: The traineeship is aimed at unqualified applicants who have not formally completed a Certificate level III, equivalent or above. Those with Certificate level III, equivalent or above are not eligible for this Traineeship.

Conditions of Employment

Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements.

Local Government (State) Award - Trainee Rates of Pay:

Trainee Level

Rate Per Week

T3 at 17 years of age

$572.60

T4 at 18 years of age or over or HSC

$669.40

What we need from you:

To enable successful course completion you will need to have competent maths skills.  

Qualifications and experience:

  • Eligibility to commence a Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent
  • A Driver’s Licence (desirable)
  • Completion of HSC (desirable)

Referee Checking

The names and contact numbers of two referees will form part of the recruitment process.

Pre-employment Screening

A Pre-Placement Health Assessment shall be conducted prior to any offer of appointment and as part of the pre-placement health assessment candidates will be required to undertake a drug test.  Other screening processes appropriate to the role will be conducted including referee checking.
